Springfield Technical Community College
Historic Building Roof Repair Study

Springfield’s regional community college requested HAI Architecture, Inc. design and provide guideline drawings to implement the slate roofing replacements on two historic structures located within the campus proper. The two buildings, now housing administrative functions for the college, were both constructed concurrently in the mid-1830’s and were used as officer’s quarters during the period that the Springfield Armory stood on the campus grounds. Many of the Civil War-period structures remain in use today, and the roofing renovations were undertaken in keeping with stringent National Park Service Preservation guidelines to protect the character of the historic campus.
