Ronald McDonald House of Springfield
Kitchen Renovation
The nonprofit Ronald McDonald House of Springfield serves patients of Shriners Hospital and Baystate Medical Center. The kitchen and dining area, original to the twenty year old house construction, was highly worn from use by 28 families on a daily basis, year round. Renovations include expanding the kitchen into adjacent office space in order to create three distinct cooking areas (one designed for complete accessibility) sharing a large, common central island. Custom stained concrete countertops, stainless steel sinks, wood grain laminate cabinetry, and wood plank sheet vinyl flooring all add to the warm residential aesthetic while providing durable and lower maintenance surfaces. HAI Architecture provided all of its services on this project pro-bono.
