Don Hafner, AIA, NCARB

Don Hafner, Principal, has over twenty six years of design and project management experience in the field of architecture. His experience includes the design of a number of acute care medical facilities, emergency, outpatient and diagnostic facilities, medical offices, as well as behavioral health care facilities and behavioral outpatient facilities.

As a Principal and Project Architect, Mr. Hafner has developed considerable experience in all aspects of the design process and excels in design, code compliance, and construction administration. He routinely manages a wide range of projects, from the design of small additions and renovations, to master planning for community hospitals. His credits include designs for ambulatory surgery centers, central sterilization and supply projects, cardiac care and catheterization projects, imaging technologies, and psychiatric institutions.

As a building tactician, Mr. Hafner is accomplished in the field of historic preservation, with significant experience in masonry restoration and buildings of the Arts & Crafts Movement.

Prior to joining HAI Architecture., Mr. Hafner worked at the offices of Timothy D. Smith & Associates, P.C., North Bennington, Vermont, and Beery, Rio & Associates, Annandale, Virginia.

Mr. Hafner has been employed with HAI Architecture and its predecessors, Architects Inc. / Healthcare Architects Inc. since November of 1988, becoming Corporate Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in 2003. He is licensed in the states of Massachusetts and Connecticut.
